Vaughan artist Matt Von marks his mother’s passing and honours her memory with his latest single.

Music and family have always served the singer, songwriter and guitarist Matthew Giordano (artist name: Matt Von) as the guiding compass throughout his life.

When he was eight years old, his father enrolled him in guitar lessons after he’d been inspired by his older sister, who was pursuing her passion for singing and piano. After learning the guitar, he developed a passion for singing. After high school, Matt studied music at York University, focusing on vocals and guitar. Today, he has grown into a full-fledged performer known for his blending of acoustic pop with hints of country and gospel.

Sadly, Von’s biggest supporter, the person who never missed a live performance and the first one to proudly share his songs, his mother, passed away from cancer in April 2023. Months after her passing and still feeling grief and sadness, he felt his heart unexpectedly filled with the entire song, everything from the chorus to the verses, leading him to compose the single, “Still In My Heart.”

“All of the lyrics were attributed to my mom. It’s hard, especially losing somebody you love. No matter how far they are or where they are in the world, you always have that person and that memory still in your heart. That’s the message I wanted to portray to my listeners,” says Von.

No matter what ups and downs have been thrown his way, unconditional love and melodies have given him the strength to carry on his mother’s last wish – that he continue with his music. With the release of “Still In My Heart,” Von has composed the most heartfelt song of his promising musical career.
