Vaughan Dental: Sleep Well & Live Better

Dr. Samantha Bohay of Vaughan Dental Snoring and Sleep Apnea Solutions is transforming lives of patients and their loved ones through Oral Appliance Therapy.

Few have experienced the same dental sleep medicine journey as Dr. Samantha Bohay, DMD, C.DSM, D.ABDSM, who began practicing general dentistry in 2000. Although the opportunity to study sleep apnea and snoring came in the most unexpected circumstances, it turned out to be a blessing.

“Studying sleep kind of fell into my lap, and, when it did, I loved it! One in five people have sleep apnea and 80% remain undiagnosed, so my passion lies in identifying and helping to put these patients on the path of diagnosis and treatment,” says Dr. Bohay.

She has exclusively treated obstructive sleep apnea and snoring patients for more than 10 years. She is one of only 11 practitioners in the Greater Toronto Area who have achieved Diplomate status with the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM). Diplomates are widely recognized as the gold standard for excellence in dental sleep medicine as they have demonstrated the skills and knowledge essential for the delivery of excellent patient care.

Dr. Bohay opened Vaughan Dental Sleep Solutions in 2021 to provide personalized treatment for sleep apnea patients using Oral Appliance Therapy. This is a highly preferred alternative treatment for those living with sleep apnea, unlike the industry-standard CPAP machine as it is comfortable, quiet, perfect for travel and easy to care for.

“I always make a point of helping patients understand their sleep disorder, how we treat it, how Oral Appliance Therapy works and how they should expect to improve, making the patient experience positive,” says Dr. Bohay.

She offers precision medical oral appliances using digital scanning technology for the perfect custom fit. Patients can expect to sleep better, restore their alertness and revitalize their health. Much like an orthodontic retainer, the appliance fits over your teeth. While you sleep it supports your jaw in a forward position to keep your airway open.

Vaughan Dental Sleep Solutions understands how crucial sleep therapy treatment is. Getting good sleep every night can help to prevent a wide range of major health risks, such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes and increased risk of cancer. Dr. Bohay welcomes walk-in patients (no referrals necessary).

She is also the Clinical Director of the Dental Sleep Medicine Program at the Sleep & Alertness Sleep Clinic located in Toronto and is a guest lecturer at the University of Toronto School of Dentistry. Dr. Bohay’s passion for sleep medicine is boundless!
