A Gingerbread Dream

The holidays are in full swing, and what better way to spread some cheer than with a collaboration so sweet this time of year! Canadian bakers and celebrity sister duo, Jenna Rae Cakes, have partnered with SkipTheDishes to create a hand-crafted, gingerbread house kit, in celebration of National Gingerbread House Day!

Coated with the most colourful assortment of sprinkles, this luxe DIY kit comes decked out with the most decadent treats a gingerbread house could have!

Styled with the signature Jenna Rae touch, the beloved sisters set forth to gift clients of Skip Express Lane with an exclusive present that would dazzle and bring joy to all!

Beginning on National Gingerbread House Day (Monday, December 12), Canadian Members of Skip Express Lane will receive a one of-a-kind gingerbread house kit following an order placed with a $45 CAD value, while supplies last.

In true jolly fashion, this collaboration would not be complete without a charitable donation from both parties in support of a special cause. Ashley and Jenna have pledged to donate 15 percent of proceeds from all gingerbread house kits purchased at Jenna Rae Cakes locations to United Way Winnipeg’s Koats for Kids. This initiative works to support the organization by providing winter gear for young Winnipeggers and ensuring they keep warm throughout the season. Accompanying this generous contribution, Skip will also donate $50,000 to Koats for Kids in keeping with their values of supporting local communities across the country.

When asked what the impact of this partnership meant to the sisters, they said, “This collaboration has meant a lot to us! As local partners on the Skip network, it was an amazing way to continue to help Skip deliver joy to Canadians across the country.” Being from Winnipeg, the sisters spoke about the importance of giving back, “As moms and Winnipeggers, we know how important this initiative is considering how cold it can get here in the winter months. We think this charitable donation will go a long way in Winnipeg, and we hope to help as many children as possible keep warm this winter!”

Whether you plan on enjoying this complimentary gift received with your Skip orders or give the gift of giving, this holiday season, you can be sure that Jenna Rae Cakes has packed their one-of-a-kind gingerbread house kits with endless design possibilities and edible walls that are just waiting to be knocked down!

The sisters hope to spread the message of “Spending quality time with loved ones while creating new sweet traditions”. What better way to wrap up this year than with sweet treats and good company!

We got the opportunity to speak with Ashley and Jenna for a short Q & A:

Q: Baking and putting smiles on your clients’ faces has always been a core part of your success. As bakers in the industry, what does this collaboration mean to you?

A: “This collaboration has meant a lot to us! As local partners on the Skip network, it was an amazing way to continue to help Skip deliver joy to Canadians across the country. We love the holidays, and, as kids, we built gingerbread houses every year with our family. Now that we have kids ourselves, we’ve continued that tradition and build one every year. While designing and building our kits, we created the colourful, sprinkle-coated gingerbread house kit of our dreams … complete with the most adorable little SkipTheDishes bag to leave on the doorstep.”

Q: What influential factor made the collaboration with SkipTheDishes so important at this time of year?

A: “The charitable aspect of this campaign is truly remarkable. We are committed to supporting the local community in any way we can, and Skip is, as well, so it was a natural fit.”

Q: As Canadian business owners, what does it mean to be a part of an initiative that not only spreads holiday cheer, but also contributes to impacting change in young lives of your community?

A: “It means everything! We are so proud to be a part of this campaign, and to be in a position where we can give back. I think it’s every entrepreneur’s goal to reach a point where they can give back in a meaningful way to make their community a better place.”

Q: What message do you hope to spread with each gingerbread kit being sent out?

A: “The kits not only spread holiday cheer, but they also help create memories with loved ones and get you to use your hands to build something joyful. We vividly remember holiday baking with our mom when we were little, and we hope to build the same sort of happy memories with these kits.”

Q: Being family oriented, how excited are you to see the special — and maybe it was an unexpected — surprise your holiday gingerbread kits will bring to families across Canada?

A: “We can’t wait to see people’s reactions to the kits, and to see their creations across the country! The sprinkle-coated gingerbread pieces really add a special touch that we think are going to excite children and adults, alike.”
