Eyes on Weston, a family-operated optometry clinic founded in 2002 by Dr. Mimmo Gagliardi, has recently welcomed a new member to its team: Dr. Melynda Gagliardi. Working alongside her father, Dr. Gagliardi is eager to introduce her unique expertise and compassionate care to the Woodbridge- Vaughan community.

Dr. Gagliardi was inspired to pursue optometry by witnessing the profound impact of patient care. “I’ve done every job in this practice,” she reflects, “I grew up in my father’s practice, and so I got to see all the patients that he got to make a difference with.” Her passion for specialty contact lenses, particularly during her Cornea and Contact Lens Residency and training at BostonSight and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, has driven her to focus on transformative care for patients with complex conditions like keratoconus and dry eye syndrome.

A cherished memory of a patient solidified Dr. Gagliardi’s commitment to this specialty. A young mother struggling with moderate keratoconus found hope when fitted with scleral lenses, allowing her to see clearly for the first time in years. “She cried when she realized how well she could see,” Dr. Gagliardi recalls, highlighting her mission: “Everything I do is about improving their quality of life.” At Eyes on Weston, Dr. Gagliardi aims to expand services, including myopia control and advanced dry eye management.

But a standout feature of Dr. Gagliardi’s character is that she is a truly devoted professional in her field. Not only is she a published author and fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, she also teaches at the University of Waterloo, mentoring fourth-year students in specialty contact- lens fitting.

Together, the Gagliardis embody a commitment to exceptional patient care, leveraging advanced technology and a personalized approach.
