Nordstrom Rack, the discount subsidiary of Nordstrom, has finally opened its doors in our fair city! Nordstrom, which opened its first Canadian store in September 2014 at Chinook Centre in Calgary, Alta., has become a fast favourite for apparel, shoes and beauty items including designer fashion items.

City Life had the pleasure of touring the flagship Nordstrom Rack that opened its doors yesterday at the Vaughan Mills Shopping Centre, a welcome addition to the ever-populated shopping hub.

A Nordstrom representative expressed that the entire team is “excited to open [their] first Nordstrom Rack locations in Canada this year. [They’ve been] encouraged by the customer response to Nordstrom stores and are hopeful [customers will] respond positively to the Nordstrom Rack offerings.” This project has been in the works for a while; the team at Nordstrom “have been evaluating opportunities to open Nordstrom Rack for some time. [But they were] committed to opening full-line stores first.” The team will also be opening six more Nordstrom Rack locations across Canada during 2018, and will proceed to open as many as 10-15 Rack stores in Canada upon securing optimal locations. While Nordstrom does not have a timeline available as to when all of its Canadian locations will be launching, you can look forward to these dates for the six stores that have been confirmed thus far:

• Vaughan Mills, Vaughan, Ont., March 22
• Deerfoot Meadows, Calgary, Alta., April 26
• One Bloor, Toronto, Ont., May 3
• South Edmonton Common, Edmonton, Alta., Fall 2018
• Heartland Town Centre, Mississauga, Ont., Fall 2018
• The Ottawa Train Yards, Ottawa, Ont., Fall 2018
