On Oct. 19, Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua presented Vaughan’s first official Key to the City to the Honourable Laura Boldrini, President of the Chamber of Deputies in Italy, during her visit to Canada. Boldrini is the head of the Italian Lower House and one of the highest-ranking officials in the country. As only the third woman to hold this position, she has set a high standard of public service with her involvement in the United Nations, the field of journalism and the Italian legislative assembly. The Key to the City is gifted to distinguished individuals as recognition for their contributions in various areas of human endeavor.
