Girl-powered technology sparkled at the Technovation Girls Waterloo Chapter. With more than 3,600 apps submitted worldwide, Team Power Puck Girls’ health app, CareCompass, has won a place at the Technovation Girls World Summit 2026.
The team, comprising Barrie Shark teammates Allie H. and Victoria S., is all set to travel to Bengaluru, India, in October to present their app at the global level in the senior division. This is an impressive feat as they are the first Waterloo team to advance to the global finals.
Their app, CareCompass, helps people locate and evaluate local health-care options based on travel time, emergency department wait times and services offered, such as diagnostic imaging availability. The girls created this app with the help of a series of online courses, research and mentorship and are now ready to compete against other top student teams from across the globe.
