We may have heard the popular phrase “First impressions are the last impression” — whether they are or not is subjective opinion, but the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) is surely on its way to transforming the initial and final moments of the visitor experience.
This ambitious project is supported by a grant from the RBC Foundation Community Spaces Grant program (CSG). Revamping its 5,068-square-foot retail space, the gallery will provide a new space for community connections through art prints and books, Indigenous-designed products and unique artistic gifts.
Access to the shop and its facilities, which overlook Dundas Street West, will be free for all guests and won’t require paying the museum admission fee.
The work is expected to be finished in November 2026 in preparation for the Dani Reiss Modern & Contemporary Gallery’s 2027 opening.
