An engineer with a deep fascination for diamonds and tiaras, she is here to break all stereotypes.
“Diamonds are my favourite, and I’ve always loved them since I was a little girl — anything that sparkles, I gravitate toward.”
A graduate of the University of Toronto, the University of Oxford and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, she sees education as not only limited to changing the status quo, but more about building change.
Miller adds, “The one thing that I really learned was that people may take away your house or take away your cars, but the one thing they can’t take away is your education. Life is all about knowledge and education. I believe that education creates fortunes.”
Her commitment to knowledge and education is deeply connected with her being a woman of substance. In the male-dominated world of mining, she not only excels with her unique style but also believes in giving back. She is a key advocate for supporting women in engineering globally.
She combines technical expertise with strategic insight. Before moving to business development, she oversaw business development in the Toronto offices of two of the world’s largest engineering consulting firms: SNC-Lavalin’s Mining and Metallurgy division and Bantrel, backed by parent company Bechtel, for 13 years.
From being the youngest female president of the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers to being a staunch supporter of issues pertaining to women in engineering, she is setting an example for others to follow.
Bright and energetic, Miller believes in family first and therefore emphasizes work-life balance. Carrying her own sparkle everywhere she goes, Miller is a role model for women to be their unapologetic selves as they lead lives of passion with purpose.
