Air Canada pays special tribute to Vince Carter’s incredible basketball journey

Celebrating the legacy of the remarkable athlete, Air Canada unveils a special Vince Carter livery.

We are aware of the exceptional contributions made by Vince Carter in his incredible basketball career. Air Canada takes it a step further to celebrate his legacy as Toronto Raptors retires his jersey.

Sharing his emotions, Vince Carter said, “The city of Toronto, and Canada as a whole, has meant so much to me throughout my career.” He added, “I am deeply touched by this tribute from Air Canada and can’t wait to share the excitement with all the incredible fans across the country.”

Carter has shared a special bond with Air Canada — he was nicknamed after the airline during his seven seasons with Toronto Raptors. He also performed in the arena where Air Canada was the first named sponsor at the time, strengthening the bond between the athlete, the airline and Canadian basketball.

Andy Shibata, Air Canada’s Brand Vice President, added, “Everyone at Air Canada is beyond excited to celebrate Vince Carter’s trailblazing career. As the country’s national airline, we’re proud of our long-standing support for Canada’s teams and exceptional athletes. Vince Carter’s legacy shows that in addition to his number taking its place in the rafters, it is also meant to fly.”

Carter’s silhouette, signature and jersey number will be prominently displayed in the livery, the designs adorning its aircraft. The airplane’s undercarriage will also display Carter’s name and number to showcase the immense contribution and impact made by the athlete on his Canadian fans.

“Like Raptors fans, we are incredibly excited to celebrate a pivotal moment in franchise history, and Air Canada is uniquely positioned to join us in providing Raptors fans an unforgettable experience to honour the basketball icon dubbed ‘Air Canada,’” said Jordan Vader, the MLSE’s Senior Vice President of Global Partnerships.

“From the unveil of a first-of-its kind livery to special branded activations during the jersey retirement game, we look forward to sharing these history- making moments with fans alongside Air Canada.”

Air Canada has always applauded the victories and successes of Canadian athletes, and unveiling Vince Carter’s livery is a remarkable addition to the airline’s commitment and legacy.
