SummerWorks is ready to return with its famous festival celebrating contemporary performance, held this year from August 6th to the 16th. The theme for this year, Fight | Flight, highlights urgent artistic responses to distressing times by bringing together many local and national artists across venues throughout the city.
Throughout the 2026 festival, artists explore memory, consent and identity via resistance, humour and intimacy. They also shift viewpoints, rewrite history and create new narratives through the body.
With 35 projects and 27 live performances, the festival will be packed with enthusiasm and talent.

Just like every other year, this year’s festival will feature community-engaged programming initiatives. From Summer Break, a collection of free performances, to The AMY Project, a workshop and public space intervention, the festival will offer something for everyone.
The SummerWorks Performance Festival is sure to be filled with immense artistic, community and creative fervour.
